The 26-year-old, who moved to City from AFC Bournemouth earlier this season, opened his goalscoring account for the club against Exeter City and has since scored 12 goals in all competitions. Guardiola attributes Semenyo’s success to his tireless work ethic and ability to finish chances.

“Every time the ball arrives at him, he is always there,” Guardiola told Sky Sports. “We know Bournemouth did an incredible job with him, and he’s continued that form here at City.”

Guardiola acknowledged that City struggled in the first half against Newcastle but praised the team’s improvement after the restart. Semenyo’s opening goal, followed by Ryan Cherki’s late strike, secured a 2-0 win at St James’ Park.

“Semenyo was excellent tonight,” Guardiola said. “He’s a player who always gives everything, and his movement was top-class. He’s a great finisher, and he’s showing that he’s one of the best in the league.”

Despite having a second goal ruled out via VAR, Semenyo’s impact on the game was undeniable. Guardiola emphasised the need for focus as City approaches the competition’s decisive stage.

“Semi-finals are not easy,” Guardiola said. “We play a lot to reach the finals, and we need to be focused. We know how it works, and that will make us stronger.”

Semenyo’s impressive form has raised expectations, and City fans will be eager to see him continue his scoring streak against Manchester United in Saturday’s derby. The Ghanaian forward has become a fan favourite at the Etihad, and his contributions will be crucial as City looks to secure trophies this season.
