Is Ken Ofori-Atta Looking for Permanent Residency in the United States? Martin Kpebu Expresses Worries
Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is allegedly attempting to obtain permanent residency in the United States, according to private lawyer Martin Kpebu.

He claims that one of Ofori-Atta’s sons is spearheading the effort to persuade American authorities based on reliable information from a reliable source.
In an interview with TV3’s The Key Points on November 22, 2025, Kpebu lambasted the Special Prosecutor for what he called a tardy extradition process for Ofori-Atta, claiming that the former minister’s quest for U.S. residence may make it more difficult for him to return to Ghana.
Kpebu maintained that his source is trustworthy and added that U.S. documents may be used to confirm the information if needed.
Additionally, he called the OSP’s justification for opposing an in absentia trial “ridiculous.”
Although attempts to return Ken Ofori-Atta to Ghana have not yet succeeded, he is still being investigated for corruption-related offences.
As additional information becomes available, the problem continues to garner public attention.
