Obuasi Crime Sweep: 40 Arrested
Ghana’s Obuasi In a major crackdown on crime, the Obuasi Police Command detained forty people in a well-planned early-morning operation that targeted areas thought to be drug dealers’ and criminals’ hiding places.

Operation Details – Date: Tuesday, December 16, 2025
– Time: 5:00 a.m. – 10:20 a.m.
– Locations: Bedieso, Kunka Junction, Abompe, and Akaporiso
– Suspects Arrested: 40
– Items Seized: Tramadol, cannabis, and other suspected narcotics
Seizures and Arrests Personnel from the Divisional Operations Unit, Obuasi District Police, and the Formed Police Unit (FPU) Obuasi Base participated in the operation, which was headed by ASP Adam Muakalu. A black polythene bag containing dried leaves thought to be cannabis was found in Bedieso, and eight people were taken into custody. Eleven suspects were apprehended after trying to escape, and one suspect was discovered in Kunka Junction with a wrapped package of dried leaves that seemed to be cannabis.
Police Declaration Residents were reassured by Detective Chief Inspector Odoom Stephen of the Obuasi District Criminal Investigations Department (DCID) that ongoing operations will continue to suppress criminal activity and enhance community safety.
Suspects caught in possession of illicit substances will be charged in court as soon as possible, and the police have kept all seized materials for forensic analysis.
