NDC Turns Down Mahama's Third-Term Agenda
Reiterating its dedication to Ghana’s Constitution and democratic traditions, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has categorically denied allegations of a third-term ambition for President John Dramani Mahama.

No matter how many members the party has in Parliament, NDC General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey stressed on Channel One TV that the party will not back any attempt to modify the Constitution to prolong presidential tenure.
The NDC’s Position on Term Limits in the Constitution
Sub-Saharan Africa is inspired by Ghana’s adherence to constitutional term limits.
– For political or personal benefit, the NDC will not abuse its parliamentary majority to enact constitutional amendments.
– President Mahama has made it obvious that he is not interested in running for a third term, maintaining democratic credentials.
Ghana continues to serve as a model for sub-Saharan Africa’s democratic transition; the NDC will guarantee that the nation’s adherence to constitutional boundaries continues to serve as an example for other democracies.
– The party puts the interests of the country ahead of personal goals.
Third-Term Agenda Consequences
Ghana’s peace and stability would be threatened by a third-term amendment, which would create unnecessary friction.
– Attempts to modify presidential term limits will not be sponsored, supported, or tolerated by the NDC
The NDC’s position on the third-term agenda demonstrates its dedication to Ghana’s constitutional order and democratic ideals.
