Dormaahene Dismisses Kofi Adoma’s Incident as ‘Cheap Propaganda

Dormaahene, the traditional leader of the Dormaa state, has finally broken his silence on the controversy surrounding media personality Kofi Adoma’s eye injury. In a recent video circulating on social media, Dormaahene expressed his reluctance to comment on the issue, stating that he didn’t see the point in discussing it as it aimed to hinder the development of his jurisdiction.

According to Dormaahene, whenever he attempts to initiate development projects in his towns and villages, people try to sabotage his efforts. He views Kofi Adoma’s issue as mere propaganda designed to tarnish his reputation among Ghanaians

For those unfamiliar with the controversy, Kofi Adoma, a popular Ghanaian broadcaster, suffered a severe eye injury while covering the Kwafie Festival in Dormaa Ahenkro. Adoma claimed that he was shot, resulting in significant blood loss and eventual loss of vision in one eye. He was rushed to the Dormaa Hospital for emergency treatment and later transferred to Accra and abroad for specialised care.

Adoma publicly expressed his disappointment and surprise at Dormaahene’s silence following the incident. He emphasised that he wasn’t seeking financial compensation but rather a gesture of concern and empathy from the traditional leader

Dormaahene’s recent statement suggests that he feels targeted by Adoma and others who are allegedly trying to undermine his authority and hinder development in his jurisdiction. However, many Ghanaians may view Dormaahene’s response as insensitive and dismissive of Adoma’s traumatic experience.

The controversy has sparked heated debates on social media, with some defending Dormaahene’s position and others criticising his handling of the situation. As the discussion continues, it remains to be seen how Dormaahene will address the concerns of his critics and work towards resolving the issue.

In the meantime, Kofi Adoma’s experience serves as a reminder of the risks and challenges faced by journalists and media personalities in Ghana. The incident has also highlighted the need for greater support and protection for journalists who are injured or attacked while performing their duties.

As the situation unfolds, it is essential for all parties involved to engage in constructive dialogue and work towards finding a resolution that addresses the concerns of all stakeholders. By doing so, we can promote a more positive and supportive environment for journalists, traditional leaders, and the communities they serve.
